City Island is a nautical town in New York City, a little over two miles from the Pelham Bay Park station and connected by one bridge. Much of its industrial history lies in boating – namely, shipbuilding and sail making, according to the City Island Nautical Museum. The nautical history is evident to the eye: restaurants named Man Overboard and The Black Whale, the seal statues in Hawkins Park, boats dry-docked at the various marinas and yacht clubs that dot the island.
